Who is Joan Red? Where did this group come from? Where has this music been?

The name Joan Red comes as a moniker to unify the band. As there are 5 different individuals in the band with different struggles, pains and hopes, Joan Red is used to embody each individuals emotions, into a single entity.



It's Memphis music for the masses, it’s energy for the energetic, and passion for the passionate, it’s Joan Red. Joan Red is not ages old; however it is ages in the making. With genres colliding, Anthony Basurto continues composing power chorus' and vocals to re-align the barrier of contemporary song writing. The fuel given by many years and hundreds of performances ignites an incredible flame inside Anthony, which burns with intensity during every performance. Anthony Basurto’s live performance is what rock is all about. There are many legends of rock, but very uniquely, Anthony's song writing skills consists of constant and consecutive hooks. He explains each action he takes with an undeniable stage presence that controls audiences. Generating limitless hooks and choruses in Rock/Alternative/Power Rock, Anthony Basurto has had his show of fame, stardom, and loss. The former front man of the hard hitting Memphis rock group Chosen View, this vocalist has shared the stage many of rocks greatest talents. Including Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Switch Foot, Saliva, Breaking Point, and Earshot. Also, with Chosen View, Basurto headlined the 2004 Grammy Showcase and Turner South Broadcastings' first ever rock competition, all the while showcasing for national interests. Traveling uphill Basurto's stage power with Chosen View catered to talent-buyers, per show, with ticket buyers ranging from 400 to 870 people.



The skill and drive of this vocalist caught the attention of Paul Ebersold, a Grammy nominated producer who holds the print on many platinum selling artists. After securing a developmental deal, Anthony Basurto and band mates went into the studio to write, record, and prepare for additional shopping and showcases while making time for their fans by performing, and heavy promotion. The music industry buzzed, stronger and prominent waves rippled in a larger music market. Through performance and show guarantee, along with professional investments, Anthony’s voice was being recognized internationally. The professionals were taking interests like never before. New interests from Ardent Studios and producers Jason Latshaw and Matt Martone sent Chosen View in to write new tracks for the bands solicitations. However, the pressures of Chosen View’s personal lives could not financially back it anymore, so those were the bands final recordings. Some of the band members chose to pursue careers with other national artists while Anthony found stronger outlets to pursue his abilities in exclusive song writing.



On the other side of the rock scene in Memphis was Patient Zero. This was a band led by singer/songwriter Michael Lovelace, an incredible writer whose talents were only amplified by long time band mate and close friend Shawn Morgan. Michael and Shawn’s music roots spanned for the past 7yrs in the Memphis concert scene. The guitar leads of Morgan were as charismatic as the guitarist himself and with Lovelace utilizing their collaboration of skills it surely pushed Patient Zero to the forefront of Memphis music.



Within just months after departing from his former band, Anthony began writing with Michael, which very quickly became heavily satisfying. It became very intense between these two song writers, so much that Michael decided he would leave Patient Zero. Patient Zero lead guitarist Shawn and bassist Aaron also decided to call it quits. After the meeting of the four musicians, they all felt very enthused about the passion and ideas of front man Anthony Basurto. The only dilemma remaining was to fill the empty drum stool. After several auditions, a 20 year old drum prodigy named Tripp Atkinson showed up last for the audition. Later that day the band made the obvious decision, and called Tripp to offer him the part. While dealing with the day-to-day problems of touring, rehersals and all the trials of having personal responsibilities the band was forced to make a change in the rhythm section. Old bassist Aaron Hulin found these situations to be overwhelming to his personal life, so the remaining members of the group set out to find a new bassist. Through a mutuality the band contacted Darin Jerden, a very influential frontman and lead guitar player that commanded an enormous presence from his live performance, for the position of the bass. Darin accepted the position, trading in his decade of guitars and vocals to compliment the musical settings of the band. The musicians spent the remainder of 2006 writing new material with their new vision.

In the wake of 2007 front man Anthony Basurto walks back into Paul Ebersold’s 747 Studios to work with new producer, Scott Hardin. This is where Anthony brings with him, Joan Red, using his song writing techniques and extraordinary vocal skills to present insatiable rock with his competitive song writing hooks. Two months of completing the first two tracks off their first album, the sound and style of Joan Red has already spread over 10,000 strong.

The combination of exotic melodies, crunching riffs, and storm driven vocals of Joan Red gives a fresh new style that sets them apart in a new musical reality all their own. Within just a few weeks of beginning studio work, the anticipation of Joan Red’s music is causing a huge stir throughout the entire music industry. By combining sharp guitars and saturated hooks with overwhelming and undeniable presence, Joan Red is pushing through the boundaries of active rock and leaving a strong and standing impression with their stage energy.
