Bio
Well its a long story so ill tell ya the short one. The band started when i Philip Montalbano broke up with The Sonitus Revolution due to many reasons but one being Frank and the other being jay. It wasn't meant to be long term but after i was bummed out after so much hard work and dedication i decided to try for the 4th time to start a band because this is my passion. It all started on January 4th 2010 when i gave Personal(Joe Parisi) a call who was a drummer. He was down after being out of the music scene for 2 years. His last band was Nifty Breed but Joey P had personal issues to take care of and couldn't do it. So when i hit him up it was on. We started the band with no musical direction but we leveled it out to either Heavy metal or punk rock in the beginning and we even changed the Paraphernalia name to Eyes Wide Open towards the end. And decided to go with Metal. After 7 months of trying to find people it was Sam, Joe and I staring at each other after everybody was unhappy musically so therefore they left. Sam and Joe walked out about a week later saying its over we all can't agree musically. So Joey P went to do his thing and i didn't give up. Like a soldier on the battlefield i would never surrendered my dream by quitting my own band. So i hanged in there kept my head up and continued writing material. Well here is part 2 i guess; the 5th band attempt i started and it worked!!!l. I ran into a friend that i use to see at shows with called Jerry B wood. And told him what was up and he was def down to play bass also he said he knew a guitar player who was sick so i said i'm very excited!!! now let me meet this dude!!! so we went to this stupid ass place called the turtle in Westbury. Pretty gay name for a spot to chill at. Anyway i met up with Jerry and met Fred Kalgren who was good friends with Jerry. So we talked about music and went to the studio who i was still renting out at the time and still do from Andrew Krolikowski of VTS(thank you Andrew). And started jamming and everything went well except for the fact that Jerry kept on passing out on the first 3 practices. So he was out we couldn't deal with that but i guess he knew. So me and Fred worked our asses off after that for 3 months with making material and we started getting impatient at around the 3 in a half month point. So we went on Craig's list. We ended up finding nobody but Sammy came crawling back(and i say that in a nice way) and wanted back in. But shortly he left 2 days later cause everything apparently wasn't moving fast enough and he said he was too busy with school. So he left and it sucked!!!!! so 3 weeks later i found Mike Giordano at Evolution Studios out in West Babylon and heard his drum solo after just visiting the place with my other band (Jameson) he was flawless and i said to myself let me go up to him and ask if he would be down to do a Hard rock/Heavy metal thing and he decided to give it a shot. After he tried out he was in within the first 5 mins. Moving on!!!!!!!! after Sammy heard from me that i found a drummer he said "Really man that's great" and felt bad that he flaked out after making up bullshit excuses that he had to much school work and couldn't do it. And agreed that he would never pull anything like that again and said that he would be a team player and the answer was obviously yes. Moving on after getting Giordano and Gelbman back in the crew. The next step was to get a Keyboard Player but we never found one. Untill i ran into Nick in the hallway of a Molloy College piano room. 117 Wilbur to be exact. So after he played he finally realized that i was staring at him playing for like 2 minutes and said hi who are you. So he was down to try out and was in after around a months time because he wasn't picking it up at first but now understands what where going for. I guess next is the bass player hmmmm. Well lets just say this band has had many bass players and here they are Justin Scott,Jake Hamowitz and Ed Carrella but they all had good quality's especially Ed but he did not have the time so as we got close to countdown time to record we were losing patience. So i told Fred to go on Craigs list one more time. And we caught the biggest fish of em all!!! and that would be Jake Umansky. In the ad we where originally looking for someone older but this kid was on point with delivering and he got the job in like 30 secs and i don't think he still knows how fast he got it. After nailing My Time and True Colors within 4 days we were stoked. And then learned everything within mid Feb(right around now) everybody was excited but i don't think everybody knew what hit them. I even got a little emotional after his audition because of a couple of things one being his Playability at age 16, his open mind to music at 16, his dedication at 16, his fucking desire to make a name for himself at 16, the fact that he rather be at band practice rather then smoking weed or drinking at 16yrs old and the fact that he's a great character. So there you have it folks that's how everything came together. We won't let you all down please come through and support local shows yours truly Philip Montalbano The Meatball. -
