Bio
The Astronaut King was started in 2007, or possibly the depths of space after the apocalypse in the future, then traveled back in time only to make music about it. It all depends on how much of what you'll believe. Basically, the music is experimental, heavily improvised ambient music, that is highly influenced by 80's/90's underground death metal, hardcore, doom metal, sludge metal, Spaghetti Westerns, 70's hard rock, metal, and psychedelic music, and classic surf rock. -

Influences
I listen to a pretty wide variety of stuff, so the inspiration for this project really comes from bands like, Earth, Buzzov•en, Morbid Angel, The Chasm, Sunn O))), Bathory, Boris, 5ive’s Continuum Research Project, Godflesh, Bolt Thrower, Pharaoh Overlord, Cavity, Lento, Warhorse, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Cianide, Coffins, Kyuss, Floor, Lustmord, Bongripper, Buried at Sea, Men in Search of the Perfect Weapon, YOB, Final, Brant Bjork, Neil Young, Acid Bath, EyeHateGod, Nihilist, diSEMBOWELMENT, Mason Williams, Phantomsmasher, Esoteric, Yawning Man, Deep Purple, Noothgrush, His Hero Is Gone, Autopsy, Blind Idiot God, Neurosis, Pelican, High On Fire, Ufomammut, the song "Charioteer (Temple Song)" by Earth, all sorts of doom, sludge, death, thrash, black, drone, (etc.) metal, hardcore and crust punk, whatever type of electronica is appealing to me, I could go on for hours but I'll stop here. (My true favorites though are Bolt Thrower, Cavity, D.R.I., and His Hero is Gone). -
Sounds Like
Outer space after a zombie apocalypse, Earth's album Pentastar: In the Style of Demons, certain Neil Young albums, Amps for Christ, bands like Yawning Man (only without drums), those Morbid Angel songs that are only Trey Azagthoth on guitar, "The fucking holocaust!" -some guy at a show my friend Daniel overheard.
