Bio

I started studying electric bass when I was 13 years old, taking private lessons and using my brother’s instrument to learn. I participated on several rock and funk groups throughout my life, and when I was about 18 years old I started to immerse myself more deeply into brazilian styles of music. From then on, I joined and played with lots of brazilian music groups and singers, most of the time playing brazilian styles like samba, choro, baião, frevo and others. During this period, I started to study harmony and to research brazilian rhythms, studies that put me in deep touch with the culture of my country. My father was a percussionist, so I guess this passion for rhythm comes from birth.

By the year of 2001, I joined Itiberê Zwarg’s permanent workshops, and there I learned lots of things. Composing, arranging, piano and advanced harmony, and also I finally met an older musician who could talk to me about the spiritual side of music, which was always my main goal when I looked for teachers. There, I also recorded the “Caminhos da Paz” CD in 2006.

I founded and lead from 2003 to 2010 group Acuri, having the opportunity to develop as a bass player, composer and arranger.

In January 2011 was invited by my great teacher Itiberê Zwarg to join his group, continuing the amazing work they had been doing as Itiberê Orquestra Família. I have the honor to participate in this group - which is my most important and number 1 project - as bass, piano and percussion player.

I keep working as a sideman with different artists.
