  • Bio

High Watt Crucifixers harness a new brand of power, brewing hot Marshall tones and relentless "John Henry" drumming into a uniquely toxic-mix that has taken them to the top of the Austin rock scene. They dominate legendary venues like Emo's and all that surrounds it with their visceral and explosive live shows. High Watt commands the attention of any onlookers with a kinetic buzz that shouts like Motorhead just finished a bag of methamphetamines and was joined by Tony Iommi on the way to Hell. .. .. Front man Rich Mendez lights the blues on fire through a wailing Les Paul and a raucous yet melodious howl that makes the microphone melt, while second guitarist Mario Alvarez screams through his own demonic crunch with blazing, Maiden drenched riffs. The formidable powerhouse that is the rhythm section includes Jason Westbrook on bass and Chris Alaniz on drums, which is also a surviving member of punk-metal icons AMEN, fronted by the Grammy-winning, screaming bleeder known as Casey Chaos. .. .. HWC's self-titled debut means whiplash for anyone who can hold onto the disc long enough to not get burned. "Easy Action", a track from their exciting new LP can be heard on the acclaimed "Sons of Guns IV" compilation, anchored to the cover of Issue 133 of the infamous Classic Rock Magazine. This refreshing and radical 10-song kick in the teeth will demand that your stereo is on permanent repeat. .. .. High Watt Crucifixers are here and the march towards Rock n' Roll Salvation has begun. These are the gathering disciples bent on the mission of spreading the gospel. They have indeed only just been born into the world of Rock n' Roll and they have every intention of saving it. The Crucifixers are here to stay. .. .. WWW.HIGHWATTCRUCIFIXERS.COM .. .. "The High Watt Crucifixers win the award for kicking my ass harder than it's been kicked in a really long time. Brutal and precise, my introduction to the 'Fixers was just the bitch slap I needed to remind myself that one must respect the rock or be run over by it. I can't tell you how rare it is these days to see a band that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck, not only with their performance but with their passion for what they're doing. These motherfuckers literally EXPLODED into each song of their set starting and stopping on a dime, all the while dripping with sweat, licking blood off their teeth, their eyes rolling back into their heads like they were possessed. Sweet fucking hell, it was GLORIOUS. There's really no other way to put it. And just when I thought they couldn't possibly get any more amazing they floored me with a killer cover of one of my all-time favorite Iron Maiden songs, Wrathchild. The big mystery, for me anyway, is why Room 710 wasn't packed for a band this great. All I can say is this: Austin rock stalwarts beware. The High Watt Crucifixers are here, and they're gonna eat your lunch. While you're singing about revolution, these boys are living it, loud and proud." .. .. - WHOOPSY MAGAZINE .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... .. .. .. ..........

.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. EASY ACTION - LIVE - MOHAWK - AUSTIN, TX 2009 .. .. CHECK OUT HWC ON CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE'S LEGENDARY SONS OF GUNS IV!!! .. .. .. .. Fueled by Sabbath, Stooges, Iron Maiden and the blazing Texas sun, the awesomely named High Watt Crucifixers are full-on rock n' roll revolutionaries, compromise free roof burners on a four man mission to keep the rock torch lit. "It's about keeping the raw an uncompromising spirit that is rock n' roll alive for decades to come," says High Watt guitarist Mario Alvarez. "It's about not giving in to the whims of the masses and demanding what we want at all times." Amen to that. "Easy Action" is prime example of the band's righteous fury, but for maximum impact, Mario suggests you catch 'em live. "Every single one of our shows have a little blood or broken bones somewhere," he promises. .. .. - CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE .. .. ......
