Biografia
Guto Wirrti was born in 1982 in Rio Grande do Sul’s countryside, among a musician family. Soon they moved to a bigger city, where he started playing guitar and bombo leguero at age 6, with his father, who is singer and composer, and from who he got great influences. At 12, started playing bass, wich turned into his favorite instrument. At 13, he was already playing with local artists. In 2000, his musical interests took him to the northeast , where he lived for 8 months playing with local musicians that taught him a lot about afro-brasilian music. After that, he went back to the south, to Porto Alegre, where he spent two years composing and studying music while he was playing with musicians from all over. In 2003 he decided to move to Rio de Janeiro looking for better chances, and decided to stay till nowadays, playing and recording with great brasilian musicians such as Yamandu Costa, Arismar do Espírito Santo,Joel do Nascimento, Luis Carlos Borges, Gabriel Grossi, Celso Fonsceca,Luis Melodia,Milton Nascimento,João Donato,Paula Morelembaum, Leo Gandelman,Kiko Continentino With Yamandu Costa he joint April Jazz Festival in Finland, Tim Festival (they shared the stage with Herbie Hancok), and some others parts all over the World. They also record a CD in Belgian in 2006, that is going to be released in 2007 under the GHA Records label. With Celso Fonseca he went on tour through Spain, Portugal, France, Italy (Blue Note – Milano), Netherlands, England and Belgian (Flage). This “musical school” added to the experience with all these great musicians in Brazil and all over the World gave him issues to release his own project, that brings brazilian’s south music influenced by South American music, and gave him the opportunity to learn about some new composers’ work as Guinga, Radamèz Gnatali, Astor Piazzola, Bach, Debussy, Dominguinhos, Milton Nascimento, that made him understand the communication among music from different culture. The regional atmosphere added to the modernism of harmony and melody works as a link to the soul and the complex art universe. Check it soon at www.myspace.com/gutowirtti. .. .. .. ......
