  • Biografia

    Fred Castilho inherited the drumming of his father that was a member of Oscar Castro Neves band which played in 1962 at the great Bossa Nova concert in New York city, at the Carnegie Hall. He started his first steps at the age of 15 as a selftaught and kept himself this way until decided to become a professional musician. In 1993, he moved to live between L.A and San Diego and studied and attended many clinics and master clinics with great teachers from MIT (Music Institute of Technology), LAMAS (The Los Angels Music and Art) such as Phil Maturano, Efrain Toro, Michael Shapiro, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Luis Conte, Cliff Almond, Joey Heredia, Chuck Morris and others, and joined a band called the Brazilian Project and other local bands. Back to Brazil in 1997, he met Seu Jorge and was invited, to join a band called Farofa Carioca and since then he has played with several local artists such as Nicolau, Thalma de Freitas, Sergio Loroza, Alexandre Vaz, Baia, Siri, Rita Ribeiro, Gabriel Moura, Seu Jorge among others. While playing with Seu Jorge, he had the opportunity to meet Philippe Baden Powell and after that they started a band that last performed with the great Baden Powell. Nowadays, besides his own projects such as Monobloco (where he also ministers classes as a teacher) and The Frevo Diabo Orchestra, Fred has been playing and recording with several artists like Armando Lobo, Thiago Amud among others.
