mold is a creative unit of 2 brothers, whose aim is to transmit their creative style from Tokyo and beyond.
John "Shigeo" Doe and his brother DJ Raymond started mold as a ‘next door’ electrounit a year ago.
Their tracks, influenced by classical music they heard during their childhood, have both a functional and artistic feel that aims to present a unique interpretation of the world.
mold’s musical world takes Groove Art Installation as its theme, bringing diverse textures into multiple layers and sculpting the whole effect to create an abstract output.
A new genre called wag has been created using styles that include minimalism, clicking, dubbing, break beats and new wave.
mold’s home ground venue is IN:FLAME@AIR (Daikanyama, Tokyo) and they’ve also actively collaborated with top artists such as John Tejada, Fumiya Tanaka, DJ Wada, RADIQ a.k.a. Yoshiro Hanno.
In 2005, they released Paradise Lost through their own label, made numerous remixes and tracks, made guest appearances on DJ Sodeyama’s creations and released their 2nd album Ischia, named after one of Truman Capote’s short stories.
With a characterically ‘cut up’ approach, they’ve succeeded in both WAGHOUSE type floor tracks and a Gus Van Sant movie soundtrack style.

moldとはTokyoより世界に向けて無音を鳴らし続ける兄弟のユニットである。
John"Shigeo"Doeが実の弟であるDJ Raymondとネクストドアエレクトロユニットとして０１年結成。
幼少期に馴れ親しんだクラシックをバックボーンにもつ２人の紡ぐTrackは作品性と機能性の両面を持ち、独自の世界観を表現している。
moldの音の世界はGroove Art Installation をテーマに、異なるテクスチャーを多重レイヤーしSculptingする事で浮かび上がる像を抽出し具現化Outputする。
スタイルはミニマル、クリック、ダブ、ブレイクビーツ、ニューウェーブなどを網羅(カバー)しながらそのどれにも属さないWagと称される新しいジャンルを作り上げた。
moldはホームグラウンドパーティーであるIN:FLAME@AIR(Daikanyama,Tokyo)でレジデントを務めると共にJohn Tejada、Fumiya Tanaka、DJ Wada、RADIQ a.k.a. Yoshihiro Hannoといったトップアーティストとのコラボレーションを積極的に展開してきた。
05年には自身レーベルよりParadise Lost をリリース、数々のRemix,楽曲提供、DJ Sodeyamaの作品への客演など経て、カポーティ−の短編より命名された2ndアルバム「ischia」を07年リリース。
持ち前のCUT UPセンスも健在ながらWAGHOUSE風フロアトラックからガスバンサントLIKEな映画のサウンドトラック的アプローチにも成功している。
